About Emily Shumaker

Emily Shumaker, AGACNP, is a board-certified acute care nurse practitioner at CN Internal Medicine in Alexandria, Virginia. 

A graduate of the University of Memphis, Emily earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2009. She continued on to graduate school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, completing her adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner program in 2018. 

A resident of northern Virginia, Emily appreciates the charm of Alexandria and the surrounding areas. When she is not committing herself to patient care, the majority of her time is spent with her husband and their son. Emily also enjoys doing rides on her peloton, romance and comedy television as well as exploring places both near and far. 

Emily is board-certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), and assists patients of all ages at both CN Internal Medicine and INOVA Alexandria Hospital. Emily also serves on the hospital’s infectious disease committee.
